Is It Compulsory To Recite Surah Al-Fatiha Behind Imam?

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ 

Alhamduillah

Is It Compulsory To Recite Surah Al-Fatiha Behind Imam?

Answer :

Surah Al-A'raf Verse No 204

Translation :

"So when the Qur'an is recited, then listen to it and pay attention that you may receive mercy."

This Verse Clearly State That While Any One Reciting Quran We Have To Listen To It And Just Be Quite And Some People Try To Misguide People By Saying That This Verse Was Sent By Allah While Prophet Muhammad (SAW) Was In Makkah And Namaz Became Compulsory When He Went To Madina So My Friends Either This Verse Was Sent By Allah In Makkah Or Madina This Verse Is For Anytime When Ever Some One Is Reciting Quran You Have To Be Quite And Listen To It Either In Salah(Namaz) Or Not.This Is Just A Lame Excuse.And From Other Side Peoples Says That Is Why We Don't Recite Fatiha While We Offer Salah Behind Imam So It Is Also Lame Excuse And I Will Answer It.But Before That I Have One Question For The People Who Don't Recite Fatiha Behind Imam.You People Say That Imam Recite Quran That Is Why We Just Listen To Imam And Don't Recite Fatiha So Why Don't You Recite Fatiha While Imam Is Quite In 3rd And 4th Rakat? These People Just Misguide Peoples.

Hadith No 1 :

Translation :

Narrated By Abu Huraira RA

"He (RA) Narrates That When Ever We Pray Behind Prophet Muhammad (SAW) (Means When He (SAW) Is Imam) So He Stops Two Time For A While 1st Time Before Surah Fatiha (For Sana) And 2nd Time Before Going To Ruku (Where We Recite Subhana-Rabi-Al-Azeem) In 1st Rakat But In 2nd Rakat He Start Directly From Fatiha And Stops Before Going To Ruku"

Note : Comments Of Imam Bukhari In His Book Is That He Said That 

"Abu Salma Bin Abdur Rehman Tabi, Maamoon Bin Maharan Tabi,Saeed Bin Jubair Tabi (Rehmatullahalhy) These All Tabi And Many Others Recite Quran Behind Imam When Imam Stops Like Prophet Muhammad (SAW) Did When He Was Imam And When Ever All These Peoples Asked By Any One About Recitation Of Fatiha Behind Imam All These People Use This Hadith And Also Say That The People Who Don't Recite Fatiha Behind Imam So His Namaz Will Not Be Accepted" And "When Ever Imam Start Recitation So They Stop And Listen To Recitation Till Imam Stop And Give Them Time To Recite"

And Imam Bukhari Quoted Surah An-Nisa Verse No 115

Translation :

"And whoever opposes the Messenger after guidance has become clear to him and follows other than the way of the believers - We will give him what he has taken and drive him into Hell, and evil it is as a destination."

He Quoted This Verse For Those Who Know About These Hadiths And Prophet's Sunnah And Doings Of Sahabas Even After That Those People Don't Follow Hadith And Sahabas So They Should See There Destination.

Hadith No 2 :

Translation :

Narrated by Abu Huraira RA

"He (RA) Said There Are 2 Stops For Imam And Reciting Surah Fatiha In These 2 Stops Is A Gift For You All"

Hadith No 3 :

Translation :

Narrated By Abdullah Bin Amr Bin Aas RA

"He (RA) Narrates That When Ever Prophet Muhammad (SAW) Stops So We Recite Surah Al Fatiha Behind Him And When He Start Reciting Quran Then We All Stop And Listen To It And After That Then He Stops Then We Recite Agains (Means The People Who Didn't Got 1st Stop Recite In Second Stop)"

And He (RA) Further Narrates That

"Prophet Muhammad (SAW)  Said To All Peoples, All Sahabas That The Person Who Doesn't Recite Surah Al Fatiha His Namaz(Prayer) Will Not Be Accepted" And He (RA) Said That Is Why We All Recite Surah Fatiha Behind Imam

This Hadith Is Crystal Clear And The People Who Don't Wana Follow Sunnah Will Not Follow Even After This Hadith But May Allah Give Them Hidaya And May Allah Bless Us All

And To All People Who Don't Recite Surah Fatiha His Prayer Will Not Get Accepted And If His Prayer Will Not Get Accepted Then He Will Face Much Problem On The Day Of Judgement. As Prophet Muhammad (SAW) Said That

"On The Day Of Judgement 1st Question Will Be Asked For Namaz(Prayer) And The People Who Will Answer This Question For Him All Other Question Will Get Easy To Answer And The Person Who Can't Answer This All Other Question Will Get Hard For Him And He Will Face Disrespect"
